Ormen Lange
Ormen Lange will be a pioneer project on the Norwegian continental shelf. The field is situated in an area of the Norwegian Sea where climatic and oceanographic conditions make it one of the most challenging development projects in the world.
- Operator:
Hydro (operator for development phase)
Shell (future operator for operational phase)
Gassco (future operator for the export pipeline Langeled)
- Location: The field is situated 120 kilometres north west of the Møre coast, and processing will take place at Nyhamna on the west coast of Norway. The gas will be exported to Easington on the east coast of England trough a 1200 kilometer long export-pipeline.
- Reservoir: The field was discovered by Hydro in 1997. The reservoir is around 40 kilometres long and eight kilometres wide, approximately 3000 metres below the surface of the sea
- Sea depth: 800 to 1100 metres
- Wells: 24 subsea wells in four seabed templates
- Production capacity
Condensate: 6000 to 8500 m3 per day
Gas: 70 million Sm3 per day
